Chad Sukra Festival ends with gala event in Jowai

JOWAI, April 23: The annual Chad Sukra Festival which marks the sowing season concluded on Sunday after an elaborate celebratory programme held at Mynkoi Pyrdi, Iongpiah Jowai.
The festival is jointly organised by Seiñ Raij Jowai through its Arts and Culture Committee and held every year in the month of April.
Jowai MLA Wailadmiki Shylla was the chief guest of the programme held during the morning.
As is tradition, people prayed for good harvest free from calamities.
After Shylla, Cabinet Minister Comingone Ymbon graced the celebration in the evening in the presence of the president of Sein Raij Jowai, OR Chllam, Doloi of Elaka Jowai, Puramon Kynjing, member of Arts and Culture Committee, SR Jowai, and others. The WWO SR-Jowai, Chillingraij, Loomiongkjam, Panaliar, Dulong, Iongpiah, Loomkyrwiang, Umchangiar, Sein Tylli Lang, Seinraij Ummulong, Seinraij Shillong and other localities and groups joined the celebrations.
