JOWAI, April 23: MLA of Nartiang and Deputy Chief Minister Sniawbhalang Dhar on Saturday donated a sum of Rs 25 crore to the West Jaintia District Sports Association for the renovation, development and improvement of the Kiang Nangbah Stadium here.
The donation was announced during the closing ceremony of the golden jubilee celebration of the district sports association here.
In his address to the gathering at the programme, Deputy CM Dhar also assured to provide Rs 10 lakh for the open-to-all memorial tournaments in memory of his late father Kesilroi Pala to be organised by the association.
According to him, Rs 5 lakh will be the prize money and another Rs 5 lakh for organising the tournament.
The sports association also felicitated its members and referees as well as sportspersons from the district from different disciplines during the programme.
Others present on the occasion were Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Shakliar Warjri, Jowai MLA Wailadmiki Shylla, District Sports Officer K Passa, members of the sports association, and others.
