SHILLONG, April 23: The Meghalaya TMC on Sunday asked political parties not to build their future or nurture political aspirations thorough the job reservation policy by depriving the youths of opportunities.
“No responsible citizen or leader should build their future by depriving our youth,” TMC’s George B Lyngdoh said while adding that youths of the state were not getting enough opportunities for employment.
Citing an example, he said, “In the recent recruitment drive in the Police department about 1,400 vacancies were advertised and the number of applications had touched 1.3 lakh and above. Since many youths had applied for multiple posts there must have been roughly 30,000 to 40,000 applicants. Our youths are not only looking for employment but they are also looking for better avenues of income for themselves and their families.”
“Our youths should feel that every policy brought by the government is accommodative and that it will nurture their future and provide them hope and also give them a strong foundation for their aspirations,” he added.
