GSU opposes BDO’s transfer
TURA, April 26: The GSU, Western Zone North, Dadenggre, has urged the government to revoke the recent transfer of the Block Development Officer from the area. According to the union, the BDO, who belongs to the tribal community, was posted to the block on May 12 last year but was soon transferred after 10 or 11 months of his posting. “We want a Garo-speaking local to be posted as the BDO so that he understands the problems of the local people and deals with them. They should also be given time to serve the people and not transferred frequently,” the union said.
