Man drowns in Myntdu river

JOWAI, April 30: Thirty-three-year-old Dawansame Najiar of Iongpiah, Jowai, drowned in Myntdu river around 11.30 am on Sunday.
A police team arrived at the spot to cause an enquiry on receiving the information.
The team found Dawansame at Mutong Syntu Ksiar.
With the help of the Special Rescue Team, Fire and Emergency Services Shillong, the team fished out his body around 3:30 pm.
Inquest was conducted and the body was shifted to Civil Hospital for post-mortem.
Police have ruled out foul play.
The body was handed over to the family members for last rites after obtaining exemption from post-mortem from the authorities.
