SHILLONG, May 10: Close on the heels of rumours that TMC leader Mukul Sangma met BJP leadership in New Delhi, the former Chief Minister and senior politician has rubbished reports of him travelling to the national capital recently to meet the top brass of the saffron party terming them as merely speculation.
“It is a product of speculation, assumption, presumption and I can’t stop you from presuming, but the fact is that please hear from the horse’s mouth before a story of such nature is carried. I have reason to believe that the stories must also be connected to the election that is ongoing. Today is the poll day,” Sangma told media persons here on Wednesday.
He reiterated that this is an attempt to divert the narrative, which should be focused on serious issues confronting the state.
“We are available, get connected, get through the horse’s mouth. It is natural for every political party to strategise for themselves and we are doing the same. We also would like other MLAs to join us and merge with our party. We welcome anyone who decides,” he said.
Stating that the state needs unification, he reminded how he had tried to unite all the political parties after the results were out and how many fell victims to horse trading.
“In the coming days you will see many things happening and unfolding and we will be taking on this government. Wait and have patience. We will be not found wanting in discharging our duties,” he said.
