Man convicted of minor’s sexual assault in WKH

NONGSTOIN, May 18: The Court of the Special Judge (POCSO), Nongstoin, has awarded one Bringstarwell Kharbani 25 years of rigorous imprisonment with fine of Rs 50,000 along with one year of simple imprisonment with a fine of Rs 1,000 under Section 6 of the POCSO Act and under Section 506 of IPC respectively.
Earlier on July 23, 2020, a woman had filed a police complaint that her 13-year-old daughter was found to be pregnant on being sexually assaulted by Kharbani.
A case was subsequently registered at Nongstoin Police Station and following an investigation, Kharbani a charge sheet was filed against Kharbani.
He was then tried in the court, and on May 11, 2023, he was convicted of the crime.
