SHILLONG, May 22: The KSU NEHU unit on Monday locked the office of NEHU Vice Chancellor Prof Prabha Shankar Shukla for his failure to address the problems faced by the students of the university.
The KSU members alleged that they had asked the VC to address the problems faced by the students within a month but no concrete steps were taken.
Their demands included redressal of the issues concerning the hostel facilities and the bus services.
Informing that they had taken up these issues with the VC last month, KSU NEHU unit president, Richest Malngiang said they tried to meet the VC to seek clarity on their demands but he refused to meet them.
Malngiang claimed that NEHU authorities often take weeks to even replace a bulb in the hostel causing students to stay in the dark.
Moreover, there are only seven buses that cater to the large number of students of the university. Due to this, a majority of the students are left with no option but to use other costly modes of transportation, he added.
