Public meeting in WJH village on job quota policy

JOWAI, May 31: A public gathering on the ongoing row over reservation policy was organised in Chiehruphi village, West Jaintia Hills, on Wednesday, which was chaired by the village Headman Phrom Rymbai in the presence of elders and youths of the nearby villages.
At the gathering, people brought placards and scripts in support of VPP president Ardent Basaiawmoit, who is on an indefinite hunger strike demanding a review of the reservation policy.
One of the youth from Khliehriat slammed the representatives from the region who have kept mum on the matter.
It may be mentioned that VPP president Ardent Basaiawmoit has been adamant on review of the State Reservation Policy. The hunger strike by the VPP chief entered its 9th day on Wednesday.
Although the VPP has agreed to join the talks on the matter, the hunger strike, the party has decided, will continue.
