Newborn’s body recovered in city

SHILLONG, June 2: A body of a newborn was recovered from Lumkhyriem, Shillong, on Wednesday.
Sources informed that some children had first witnessed the newborn’s body being carried by a dog.
It was informed that following the conduct of formalities by police, an inquest was conducted on the spot in the presence of witnesses.
The body has, meanwhile, been shifted to NEIGRIHMS for autopsy.
When contacted, police on Friday said that they are waiting for the post-mortem report and that no one has come forward to claim the body.
