SHILLONG, June 8: A chilling case of sexual assault of a minor girl in the forest at Risa Colony last week has come to light with the arrest of all the three persons allegedly involved in the crime.
Police on Thursday said they received a phone call on the evening of June 3 from the Secretary Shnong of Risa Colony to the effect that three persons had allegedly raped a minor girl inside the forest.
On learning of the incident, a team from Laitumkhrah police station rushed to the spot and ascertained that the minor girl, accompanied by an 18-year-old male, had gone to the forest for an evening walk when they were accosted by three persons.
The accused threatened them for being in the forest and demanded a fine from them.
“Two of the miscreants assaulted the male while the other person was with the girl. The male requested the accused to let the girl leave and that he would comply with all their orders but they were forced to strip,” police said.
“The accused allegedly robbed them of their belongings and raped the girl. The boy somehow escaped from their clutches and ran towards the residential area of Risa Colony for help,” police added.
A case was registered under Section 323 of the IPC and various sections of the POCSO ACT.
Police identified two of the accused and arrested them from Khliehshnong Malki on Wednesday while the third accused was arrested on Thursday evening.
