Shillong, June 16: Earthquake tremors were on Friday felt in Guwahati, Assam, and various other parts of the Northeastern region.
Fortunately, there have been no reports of any loss of lives or damage to property resulting from the earthquake. It is relieving to note that despite the tremors, no significant harm has been inflicted upon the affected areas.
In an official bulletin, it was confirmed that a 3.6 magnitude earthquake had occurred on June 11 in the central part of Assam.
According to a report by the National Center for Seismology, the epicentre of the quake was located in the Sonitpur district on the northern bank of the Brahmaputra river. Further details regarding the intensity and effects of the earthquake are awaited.
