SHILLONG, June 15: The Voice of the People Party (VPP) has asked the state government to maintain proper records of refugees coming in from Manipur in order to ensure that unwanted elements do not take advantage of the situation.
“We appreciate the efforts of the government on humanitarian grounds but we want the government to maintain records of whoever comes to the state to ensure they are genuine residents of Manipur and then go back after the situation improves and not make Meghalaya their permanent home,” VPP general secretary Ricky AJ Syngkon said on Thursday.
