School closure
School authorities in North Garo Hills have been directed to keep their respective schools closed on Friday in view of the prevailing weather conditions. An order in this regard was issued by the Deputy Commissioner and Chairman of the District Disaster Management Authority on Thursday. The order was issued keeping in view the safety and welfare of the students as priority.

Traditional rite
About weeks before Behdienkhlam festival under Jowai Raij, religious elders like Dolloi, Pator, Langdoh, Sangot and Wasan get involved in a ritual called ‘Knia’ rite as a thanksgiving to the deities in protecting towns and villages under the Raij. This is an annual religious practice by the Raij before the arrival of ‘Shad Niam Behdienkhlam’ for the welfare and prosperity of all. It may be mentioned that the annual Behdienkhlam festival 2023 celebration of Seinraij Jowai will be held from July 6 to 9.

Meditation prog
The Rilbong Sports and Cultural Club in collaboration with Art of Living Foundation will organise a meditation programme entitled ‘Har Ghar Dhyan’ circa 7 pm on Saturday. The club has requested its members to attend the free meditation session.
