NONGSTOIN, June 16: Peeved at the unforeseen deductions by the Meghalaya Rural Bank, the Khasi Students Union (KSU) Mawshynrut circle and KSU West Khasi Hills on Friday demanded of the Regional Manager Region-III to refund the amounts deducted from the bank accounts of the people in Mawshynrut area of West Khasi Hills.
It may be mentioned that the bank in question had been allegedly deducting money from its consumers without their consent in the name of life insurance.
The complaints to the bank authorities over the matter had also fallen on deaf ears.
Meanwhile, the KSU, following the complaints, called on the Regional Manager Region-III and flagged the issue.
It later came to light that the Regional Manager had reportedly admitted to the allegations and has assured that all the consumers whose money have been deducted will be refunded at the earliest.
The KSU has, meanwhile, given a one-month deadline to the bank to ensure that the money is refunded.
