NONGSTOIN, June 20: The FKJGP Maweit circle has demanded the state government to upgrade the Maweit PHC into a Community Health Centre (CHC).
The demand was made following an inspection carried out by the FKJGP.
The inspection, led by the FKJGP Maweit circle president Anthony Umiong, had revealed that the PHC lacked basic amenities such as drinking water, electricity, parking space and an approach road.
The inspection also revealed that there were leakages in the ceiling of the building, forcing the staff to use umbrellas inside the PHC during the rainy season.
The FKJGP, meanwhile, reminded that during the election campaign last year, the chief minister had assured of fulfilling the demand for the PHC’s upgrade after returning to power.
It also appreciated the efforts of Dr. M. Mazumdar, who is also the caretaker of the PHC, for running the PHC smoothly despite hurdles.
According to the FKJGP, the doctor has even spent money from his own pocket to purchase basic amenities for the PHC.
