SHILLONG, June 25: UDP leader and former MLA PT Sawkmie has slammed Shillong MP Vincent Pala for not pursuing with the Centre the issues of Inner Line Permit (ILP) and inclusion of Khasi and Garo languages in the Eighth Schedule of the Constitution of India.
Sawkmie said though the state government has passed a resolution on the floor of the House and also called on the Union Home Minister Amit Shah from time to time on the issues, yet nothing has materialised till date.
Contending that both the demands are central subjects and require the helping hand from the Members of the Parliament, Sawkmie said, “The state government has done the duty but the MP has not done anything. It is high time the people of Shillong have to think of getting a new Member of Parliament, a person who can speak in the Parliament and also who can take up the issue of the state and the issue of jaitbynriew.”
