Shillong, June 28: National Award-winning filmmaker Sanjay Puran Singh Chauhan’s upcoming film, ’72 Hoorain,’ has stirred up controversy with its recently released trailer. The movie explores themes of radicalization, terrorism, and religious fundamentalism. However, the teaser has faced challenges as reports suggest that it has been denied certification by the censor board.
Produced by Ashoke Pandit, the over two-minute-long trailer takes a satirical approach to terrorism. It introduces the late Pakistani actor Rasheed Naz in the role of a maulvi, who discusses the concept of 72 Hoorain. Pavan Malhotra portrays Hakim, while Aamir Bashir essays the character of Bilal, both indulging in a conversation about the pleasures and rewards awaiting true followers of religion in the afterlife, including 72 virgins.
The video swiftly transitions to visuals depicting bomb blasts and terrorist attacks, portraying the grim reality associated with such activities. The trailer concludes with the disposal of two terrorist bodies being thrown into the water.
Despite the controversy, ’72 Hoorain’ is slated for release on July 7, inviting audiences to delve into the thought-provoking exploration of these sensitive topics.
