SHILLONG, June 27: A talk on the relationship between academia and industry was organised on Tuesday at NEHU, wherein a lecture was delivered by Vasant Pandit of Deen Dayal Research Institute, Chitrakoot.
Vasant Pandit is an entrepreneur and social worker, who has been working with Bharat Ratna (late) Rashtrarishi Nanaji Deshmukh and Deendayal Research Institute since 1978. He is actively involved in designing and implementing interventions for rural communities in and around Chitrakoot since 1998. The interventions are measurable, sustainable and replicable.
The lecture delivered by Pandit emphasised on the social work, rural development and benefits of industries in Meghalaya. Pandit delved into ideas such as setting up of small-scale industries within the community and how the teachers and researchers of the University can help the community in starting small-scale industries within the confinement of their homes.
