NEW DELHI, June 28: Delhi Police has successfully nabbed both the accused involved in the sensational murder of a 25-year-old cook employed at the Delhi residence of Amit Kumar, Advocate General of Meghalaya and a renowned Supreme Court lawyer, within a day of the crime.
The strangulated body of the male domestic worker, named Kamal, was found stuffed in a bed on the fourth floor of house situated in south Delhi’s Jangpura area on Tuesday. A second worker was also found with a stab injury.
Special Commissioner Ravindra Yadav said the accused were identified as Jirjis Kazmi (19) from Meerut and his accomplice Aman Tiwari (20) from Bawana.
Kazmi, who was formerly employed by Kumar’s family, wanted to rob the house with the latter’s help but was confronted by the house workers following which the intruders resorted to violence, the police official said.
Kazmi was nabbed at a bus stop late Tuesday while trying to flee the city whereas his accomplice was arrested from his house in Bawana.
On Monday night, police had received a call reporting an incident of stabbing at Kumar’s house. When they reached the spot, they found an office boy, Deepak, with a stab wound and shifted him to AIIMS. Kamal was nowhere to be found.
Kamal’s body was discovered inside a bed in a room on the fourth floor during a search on Tuesday.
The police official said Kazmi, who was sacked recently by Kumar, had perpetrated the crime in order to take revenge and loot whatever money was kept in the office. According to Kumar, his 84-year-old father and 23-year-old son were at home while he, his wife and daughter were out of town.
