SHILLONG, July 4: The state government has set up a search committee to select a new chairperson of the Meghalaya State Commission for Women (MSCW).
Social Welfare Minister, Paul Lyngdoh on Tuesday said the search committee will be headed by Commissioner and Secretary, Pravin Bakshi and will have three government officials as members and principals of three colleges as non-official members.
The government constituted the search committee days after some high drama over the removal of Phidalia Toi as MSCW chief.
Toi has tendered her resignation from the post and served a pleader’s notice to the minister seeking a public apology within 15 days.
Lyngdoh refused to comment on the pleader’s notice. “I don’t think I want to comment on that. I have said whatever I wanted to say. What we are doing now is more important than one individual,” he added.
