JOWAI, July 4: In view of the upcoming Behdeinkhlam Festival to be celebrated between July 6 and 9 in Jowai, West Jaintia Hills, a temporary traffic arrangement has been devised by the West Jaintia Hills Superintendent of Police to ensure smooth flow of traffic during the festival.
Entry of vehicles will not be allowed between 9 am and 11.30 am on July 8 from Loomsooiung (New Hill), Iawmusiang area, HK Singh School, Chutwakhu, Khliehchnong till Chiliangraij. Again, from 12 pm to 4.30 pm, entry to Loomsooiung (New Hill) and towards Iawmusiang area, Stand War and Mynthong Road (District Library) will not be allowed.
Also, entry to Mission Compound till Iongpiah Road has been restricted.
The no parking zones for July 8 are Iawmusiang area, Stand War, Mission Compound Road and Iongpiah Road.
On the next day, the road from DC point to Mission Compound (CHC-Point), Chiliang Raij (Ummakah/Aitnar junction), Chiliang Raij, and Umshangiar has declared as one way. Other thoroughfares declared one way include Chiliang Raij (Ummakah Road/Aitnar junction) to Chutwakhu Locality and Jrisalaiń junction; Mission Compound Road to Tpeppale; Mission Compound Road to Ϊongpiah Road and Dulong (Kdohhati); and Loomïongkjam junction till Ϊongpiah Road and Dulong (Kdohhati).
Visitors and commuters will not be allowed entry to Jrisalaiń Junction till Chutwakhu Road and Chilliang Raij (Ummakah/Aitnar junction); Riat Ϊongpiah to Aitnar; Loomïongkjam junction to Aitnar; Umshangiar junction (Khimusniang) to Chiliang Raj Road and Chilliang Raij (Ummakah/Airtnar junction); Ϊongpiah Road to Panaliar (Old Civil Road); Dulong to Ϊongpiah Internal Road; and Dulong (Kdohhati) to Ϊongpiah Road.
One side parking has been designated at Chiliang Raij Road-Umshangiar Road (reserved for VIPs only); Chiliang Raij (Ummakah/Aitnar junction)- Chutwakhu Road-Jrisaleiň junction (only for vehicles with pass); and Mission Compound (CHC Point)-Ϊongpiah Road near Church of God (only for vehicles with pass).
Aitnar area has been designated as ‘No Vehicle Zone’.
The parking lots are Jrisaleiň Ground (for medium and heavy vehicles), parking lots (stands) under Ĩawmusiang area; near Thomas Jones Synod College (one-side parking only) and Wahgate area (one-side parking for LMVs only).
No parking zones include DC junction-SP junction-War Taxi Stand-Mynthong Road; DC Junction-District Council/Ĩawshyiap Zone-HK Singh Tri-Junction-Jrisaleiň Junction; Wahnangbah Junction-Tpeppale locality; and DC Point-Mission Compound Road-Chiliang Raij (Ummakah/Aitnar junction).
It may be noted that there will be staggering of vehicles on July 6 and 7 on NH-44 (Riatturim area till New Hill Police Point) during the movement of the ‘Symbood Khnong, Dienkhlam and Khnong Blai’.
