SHILLONG, July 5: With prices of essential commodities, including common vegetables, reaching an all-time, the Directorate of Food and Civil Supplies has begun monitoring the prices in various markets although no formal complaint has been filed with the district administration on the issue of escalating price.
East Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner, Rosetta Mary Kurbah on Wednesday told The Shillong Times that the Directorate has collected reports from three markets across the city and is currently monitoring the price of 23 items.
“We will discuss if there is a need to monitor the prices of some more commodities,” she said.
She also said that the district administration has directed wholesalers to display the price of various items in their shops.
