9th SWKH district badminton championship kickstarts

MAWKYRWAT, July 7: The 9th South West Khasi Hills District Badminton Championship, 2023 organised by the South West Khasi Hills District Badminton Association (SWKHDBA) at the Indoor Stadium in Mawkyrwat started today. Ranikor MLA, Pius Marwein graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.101 athletes from different parts of South West Khasi Hills District including Sub-Junior, Junior and Senior boys and girls took part in this 4 days annual competition.Speaking on the occasion as the Chief Guest, Marwein who declared the championship open, said that sports not only bring glory to the athletes, but most importantly it gives good health and helps in keeping the youths away from bad habits and social evils.Marwein also said that in today’s world, sports not only entertain the spectators, but it is one of the sectors that can provide jobs to the youths. Therefore, he called upon the youths to remain focused and to continue their hardwork so that they can achieve their goals.Others who were present include Y.R. Mawlong, Additional Deputy Commissioner of South West Khasi Hills District, H.S. Diengdoh President SWKHBA, R.R. Lyngkhoi Myntri of Mawkyrwat village other leaders of the SWKHDB.
