Shillong, July 9: Meta-owned Instagram is reportedly testing a new feature called Live Activities for its iOS app. When users close the app while uploading a new photo or video, Live Activities continue to show the progress of the upload, eliminating the need to reopen the app repeatedly to check if the upload is complete. This feature is compatible with both the Lock Screen and Dynamic Island.
IANS reported that currently, Live Activities is being tested by a small group of users before a wider rollout. In a separate update last month, Instagram head Adam Mosseri announced that the platform was introducing the ability to download Reels shared by public accounts to the camera roll in the United States. However, the option to download Reels from private accounts is not available, and public accounts have the option to disable downloading in their Account Settings.
While Mosseri did not specify whether there would be a watermark on downloaded Reels, a shared image suggested that the downloaded video displays the account name of the user who posted it, along with the company’s logo.
