Govt to relocate hawkers

SHILLONG, July 12: The state government has identified certain spots to relocate street vendors from Khyndailad and turn the area into a pedestrian zone.
Tourism Minister Paul Lyngdoh said the entire stretch of Khyndai Lad will be a pedestrian zone.
Lyngdoh also said that locations of 13 institutions have been declared as no honking zone. “These areas house major hospitals, the High Court, Raj Bhavan, CM’s Bungalow, Main and Additional Secretariats,” he said.
