SHILLONG, July 17: A team of officials from Delhi sent by the Ministry of Panchayati Raj will arrive in the city to train the staff of the IT department of the KHADC on how to use the eGram Swaraj portal.
This was discerned after the ministry gave an assurance in response to the letter from the KHADC Chief Executive member (CEM), Pyniaid Sing Syiem.
“I am happy that the officials from Delhi will be visiting the Council this week to train our staff to use the portal. I had written to the Joint Secretary of the Ministry since we had faced difficulty in logging into the eGram Swaraj portal,” the KHADC CEM told The Shillong Times here on Monday.
According to him, the Council will need to upload the proposals of the schemes and Utilisation Certificates (UCs) in the portal as per the guidelines of the 15th Finance Commission.
“The purpose of this initiative was to streamline the whole system and to ensure there is no delay in implementation of the schemes and submission of proposals and UCs as per the stipulated deadline,” the KHADC CEM said.
He further stated that presently, there is a delay since the whole exercise is being done manually.
“We are also facing the problem of backlog since the schemes proposed this year will be sanctioned only next year,” Syiem said.
The CEM said that he has taken up the matter since he had made an assurance in the House to address the problem of delay in submission of schemes and UCs.
