SHILLONG, July 19: As all stakeholders including the state government search for a unanimous resolution to the issue of roster system, VPP MLA from North Shillong, Adelbert Nongrum has lauded the Meghalaya Public Service Commission (MPSC) for cancelling the advertisement for recruitment to Meghalaya Civil Services (MCS) in order to pave way for implementation of the roster system prospectively.
In a statement issued here on Wednesday, Nongrum said that the MPSC, being an autonomous body, has taken the right step to re-advertise the 35 MCS vacant posts.
In the old advertisement, he pointed out that there is disparity since 14 of the vacant posts were reserved for Garo category and only 11 vacant posts will go to the Khasi-Jaintia category.
According to him, the re-advertisement will ensure that there is no disparity as the total number of vacants posts reserved for both the Garo and Khasi-Jaintia category will be 14 each.
The VPP North Shillong MLA hopes that this is just the beginning in the efforts on the part of the MPSC to rectify the recruitment process of the various government departments.
He urged the MPSC to re-advertise the recruitment for vacant posts of LDA Secretariat, Veterinary Officer and Junior Divisional Accountant.
“I also hope that the Central Recruitment Board of the Meghalaya Police will re-advertise the recruitment of the police constable vacant posts,” the MLA added.
