Mawkyrwat, July 21: Seven people including three children suffered injuries after the vehicle they were travelling in skidded off the road and fell down a 20 meters slope at Mawthawpdah village, in South West Khasi Hills, on Friday.
The vehicle was proceeding from Riangdo towards Mawthawpdah.
Police officials informed that the incident took placed on Thursday at around 7:30 pm in which one local taxi driven by 40-year-old Primus Lyngkhoi of Mawdonglang, West Khasi Hills skidded off the road and fell down a 20 meters slope in an area under Mawthawpdah village.
As a result, the driver along with six others sustained injuries and were immediately taken to Mawthawpdah PHC and they were later shifted to Mawkyrwat Civil Hospital for treatment.
The injured persons include Naphiwanbiang Lyngkhoi (1) of Mawthawpdah, Shanborlang Lyngdoh (4) of Mawdonglang, Ailanda Lyngkhoi (38) of Mawthawpdah, Plin Lyngdoh Nonglait (42) of Mawdonglang, Treibormi Lyngdoh (30) of Mawdonglang, Rosemery Lyngdoh (3) of Mawdonglang, and the driver Primus Lyngkhoi of Mawdonglang village.
The driver along with other adults was admitted at Mawkyrwat CHC while the three children were discharged after giving first aid, according to the police.
An equiry into the matter by Mawkyrwat traffic police is underway.
