Centre notifies appointment of HC judge

SHILLONG, July 25: The central government on Tuesday notified the appointment of Additional Advocate General (AAG) Biswadeep Bhattacharjee as a judge of the Meghalaya High Court.
Union Minister of State with Independent Charge of the Law & Justice Ministry, Arjun Ram Meghwal tweeted the development.
The Supreme Court Collegium had in its resolution dated July 12 recommended the appointment of Bhattacharjee.
Bhattacharjee has been holding the post of AAG in Meghalaya since 2018, as also noted in the Collegium’s statement.
With the appointment of Bhattacharjee, the High Court will now function at its sanctioned strength of four judge, including Chief Justice Sanjib Banerjee.
