SHILLONG, July 27: The Central Puja Committee (CPC) Meghalaya has condemned the manhandling and unprovoked attack on devotees by miscreants at Mahadev Khola Dham on July 24.
A meeting on Wednesday, attended by CPC officials besides representatives of various temples, expressed grave concern and anguish over the incident.
“Such incidents are not common in Meghalaya, known for religious harmony and amity. It was also resolved to condemn the incident and urge upon the Meghalaya government to provide security in the temple complex, since devotees visit this temple throughout the year to perform various rituals,” the CPC said in a statement issued here on Thursday.
The meeting also requested all temple representatives to install CCTV cameras in their individual places of worship and maintain vigil to prevent such incidents in future created by anti-social elements.
