DC praises Rotary service to community

SHILLONG, July 28: Deputy Commissioner of EKH R.M.Kurbah has eulogised the role played by Rotary Club of Shillong in mitigating some of the community needs of the town. Addressing the installation meeting of the club here, she observed that some of the service projects were simply outstanding.
Earlier, outgoing president Deeya Rathore said the 18-bedded ICU donated to Roberts Hospital costing Rs 50 lakh was the year’s biggest project. Incidentally, it is the biggest ICU outside of government hospitals in Shillong. The Club also created a “happy school”, provided drinking water to a school, planted trees and felicitated some outstanding achievers.
The club also helped eight local children with surgical intervention to their congenital heart ailments. Newly installed president Dr Kamaljit Singh Sehdave hoped to carry on with the long tradition of Rotary’s selfless service to the community.
Osmand Nongbri offered the vote of thanks.
