Shillong, August 7: A Vande Bharat train travelling from Gorakhpur to Lucknow was targeted by stone throwers on Sunday in Uttar Pradesh’s Barabanki, resulting in a shattered window of one of the coaches.

The incident took place close to Safedabad Railway Station in Barabanki, with the train eventually arriving in Lucknow at 10:40 am.

As per India Today, this incident coincided with a virtual program led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, centered around the beautification of railway stations.

Barabanki’s Railway Police have launched an investigation into the incident, focusing on identifying the individuals responsible.

Upon notification from the Railway Protection Force (RPF) escort team, the control room was informed of the attack.

An RPF Inspector who arrived at the scene found no signs of the culprits or witnesses present.

A case has been registered under appropriate sections, citing damage to government property and endangerment of passenger lives due to harm inflicted on public assets.

This incident follows a similar occurrence last month when a Vande Bharat train was pelted with stones in Ayodhya.
