Shillong, August 11: A shocking incident has unfolded in Punjab’s Amritsar district, where a man has been arrested by the police for gruesomely murdering his 20-year-old daughter.

The man, identified as Bau, a Nihang Sikh employed as a laborer, allegedly hacked his daughter to death, fastened her body to a bicycle, dragged it along the road, and ultimately abandoned it on railway tracks. This horrifying act was reportedly committed because the father was infuriated that his daughter spent a day away from home, PTI reported.

CCTV footage of the crime has surfaced, providing evidence of the tragic incident. An initial investigation suggests that the motive behind the gruesome act was the father’s suspicion about his daughter’s character. The young woman had left home without notifying her family, and upon her return the next day, Bau violently assaulted and murdered her using a sharp-edged weapon.

India Today reported that the situation escalated as it was reported that the accused confined his family members at home, including his daughter’s grandmother, and threatened to harm them. Consequently, fear kept them from leaving the house.

The victim’s grandmother expressed her grief, mentioning that her granddaughter had left home briefly and returned on her own. The father’s violent reaction resulted in her tragic demise.

The police have registered a murder case against the father and subsequently arrested him.
