New Delhi, Aug 11: Ambassador of Laos, Bounmy Vamany will soon visit University of Science and Technology, Meghalaya (USTM) for mutual cooperation with the hill state, especially in the field of art and culture.
During his proposed visit to the University, the Ambassador will host the cultural exchange programme between Laos Central University and USTM. This was informed when Dr. Ashwin Kumar Mahanta, Director with USTM, extended the invitation to the Ambassador and discussed with him at the Laos Embassy.
Like the Northeast, Laos is also a landlocked country at the heart of the Indochinese Peninsula bordering Myanmar, China and other Southeast Asian countries. It also has mountainous terrain, hill tribe settlements and Buddhist monasteries, one with Buddha’s breastbone.
USTM has also signed an MOU with top universities of many foreign countries for exchange programmes. The latest one was with Gabon Central University, International University of Libreville (UIL) to promote cultural exchange and joint projects. USTM Vice Chancellor GD Sharma had signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with UIL Chancellor Jacques Francois Mavoungou.
