TURA, Aug 16: Education officials are set to probe the alleged illegal constitution of a School Managing Committee at Gasbari Non-Government LP School under Dadenggre Civil Sub-Division, on Thursday, following several allegations made earlier. It may be recalled that a complaint was filed with the Director of School Education and Literacy (DSEL) in Shillong by the Gaonbura, VEC functionaries, NGO members, the VDP secretary of Gasbari village against the CRC (Cluster Resource Person) one Almas Hoque, Gasbari CRC, and Shohidur Rahman (head teacher of Gasbari Non -Govt. LP school) under Dadenggre Subdivision for illegally constituting the School Managing Committee (SMC) of Gasbari Non-Govt. LP School since 2019 without following the norms laid down in the RTE Act, 2009/NCTE norms/guidelines and other relevant notifications of the concerned department.
The Headman and the villagers had complained that there were no meetings conducted in the school concerned from the year 2019 for constituting the SMC and that it formed behind closed door meetings of the CRC and head teacher. The complainants had added that this was a gross violation of the government norms as members who are not even patents-guardians of the students were selected. They further claimed that since 2019, no meetings were held in the school for the formation of SMC.
The spot inquiry on Thursday is to be conducted by the Block Mission Coordinator SSA, Selsella Block Resource Centre, West Garo Hills.
