NONGSTOIN, Aug 22: The Federation of Khasi Jaintia and Garo People (FKJGP) Mawlangsu Area Unit on Tuesday met the Executive Engineer of Meghalaya Power Distribution Corporation Ltd., Nongstoin Division, seeking repair of the entire rusted electric pole at Mawlangsu in West Khasi Hills.
President of the FKJGP Mawlangsu, Syrpaily Kharrit said that the residents of Mawlangsu have voluntarily erected a bamboo so that the wires would not fall on the ground and possibly result in a fatal accident.
During a meeting with the executive engineer of MePDCL Nongstoin Division, Jistarland Lyngkhoi, the chief organiser of FKJGP West Khasi Hills District Unit, said that most of the poles are no longer fit for use and pose a serious danger to the residents, especially during monsoon.
The executive engineer has agreed to address the issue promptly.
