TURA, Aug 25: The Office of the District School Education Officer of South West Garo Hills successfully organiszed on Friday a District Level Science Seminar with the theme “Millets: A Super Food or a Diet Fad?” The event, held at the Multi Facility Centre in Ampati, brought together students from nine schools across the district to engage in thoughtful discussions on the subject.
The seminar, which aimed to foster scientific curiosity and critical thinking among the youth, featured a series of activities including exhibitions, PPT and paper chart presentations, viva aptitude tests and written aptitude tests. The students showcased their knowledge and insights into the potential of millets as a super food and whether the current trend is just a passing diet fad.
The programme was inaugurated by Y W Momin – ADC of South West Garo Hills, who also had the honour of closing the event during the Valedictory function. Momin commended the participants for their dedication and encouraged them to cultivate rational thinking and a logical approach to life. She emphasised the importance of using resources optimally and making informed choices. The highlight of the event was the recognition of excellence through awards. Trophies and certificates were presented to the top three winners, acknowledging their exceptional contributions to the seminar. The organisers expressed their gratitude to all participants and attendees, underscoring the importance of such platforms in nurturing the intellectual growth of the younger generation.
The success of the seminar showcased the commitment of the district’s educational community to promote scientific inquiry and critical thinking among students of South West Garo Hills.
