Cement company suspends two employees, tenders apology

Jowai, Aug 26: Two employees of the Meghalaya Cement Limited (Topcem) were suspended on Saturday for use of provocative words during a public hearing at Thangskai on August 24.
The company has also tendered an apology to the local people on behalf of its employees.
The management of the Meghalaya Cement Limited (Topcem) said that the words used by its employees was ‘unparliamentary’, while taking strong view of the incident the company has immediately suspended the employees.
“The company once again apologise to the local people due to the behaviour of our employees. We assure that the company is committed to promote peace, harmony and conducive environment for the employees and the villagers associated with our company and also assure that no such untoward incident will happen in future”.
Earlier, the JSU has sent a clear-cut message to the cement company to deport the two employees of the company at the earliest.
