Shillong, September 2: Tesla, the electric vehicle (EV) pioneer, has made another pricing adjustment, this time reducing the cost of its “full self-driving” (FSD) beta software by 20 percent.
The Tesla FSD beta software, previously priced at $15,000, now comes at a reduced rate of $12,000, reflecting a $3,000 or 20 percent decrease.
As per IANS, this software package encompasses the “enhanced autopilot” features and the capability to detect and ideally halt at traffic lights and stop signs, offering Tesla owners an enhanced driving experience.
In July, Tesla CEO Elon Musk presented an exclusive opportunity for first-time Tesla customers to transfer the FSD beta software to another vehicle, describing it as a “one-time amnesty.”
Tesla owners who have purchased the FSD package can avail of this offer by transferring it to a new Tesla vehicle before September 30.
Musk has emphasized that this is a one-time offer applicable only to orders placed before the end of Q3. To qualify, customers must add FSD Capability to their new Tesla car order.
Those eligible for this offer must purchase a new Tesla and take delivery by September 30.
In a notable incident last month, Elon Musk live-streamed a drive through Palo Alto, California, using a smartphone, an act that raised legal concerns. The livestream showcased the car’s self-driving capabilities. However, during the drive, Musk had to intervene to prevent the “Full Self Driving” system from running a red light, demonstrating the ongoing challenges in achieving fully autonomous driving.
Musk engaged in conversation with Ashok Elluswamy, Tesla’s head of Autopilot software engineering, during the drive.
