Carrom State Ranking Tournament from Sep 27-30 in city

SHILLONG, Sep 3: The Meghalaya Carrom Association (MCA) will be conducting the 21st Meghalaya Open Carrom championship: State Ranking Tournament 2023 which will Be held at Jaiaw Laitdom Dorball hall from the 27th -30th, September, 2023. The Tournament comprises of five events which are listed alongside entry. Fee: Team events (Rs 600), Men’s single (Rs 100), Women’s single (Rs100), Veteran’s single (Rs100), Junior’s Boys and girls (Free entry). Registration for each member will be Rs 20 and Rs 120 (per team). Two teams from outside the state on invitation have confirmed their participation in the team event. This year, the MCA have started the process of reviving the State Institution competition by inviting teams from different offices to send their teams for team event. Tourney to honour Meghalaya’s TaeKwonDo Grand Master Luthre

Shillong, Sep 3: To commemorate this year’s Teacher’s Day, Haina Naina Arts of TaeKwonDo is paying tribute to the renowned and great Grand Master (L) Luthre Lohar and all masters. In this regard, HNATkd is organising it’s first ever Friendly Taekwondo Championship on September 9-10, at Laban Indoor Stadium, Shillong. All taekwondo athletes irrespective of the federation they belong to are welcomed to participate in the championship. Some coaches and participants from outside the city have already confirmed their participation in the event for the love of the great Grand Master. The championship will be held on Electronic Scoring System (ESS), a first time for Meghalaya. HNATkd has also appealed all of Grand Master Lohar’s students to come forward and participate in the championship.

 

Indian rider completes tough Equestrian Endurance C’ship
NEW DELHI, Sep 3: Nida Anjum Chelat, a 21-year-old rider, became the first Indian to complete the gruelling Equestrian World Endurance Championship for juniors and young riders in Castelsagrat, France on Saturday.Nida, astride Epsilonn Salou, completed four loops totalling 120km in seven hours and 29 minutes.The goal of the championship is to cover the track without any harm coming to the horse.Nida successfully completed all four stages, finishing 23rd in the first stage (28.6km), 26th in the second (29.2km), 24th in the third (33.8km) and 21st in the final stage (28.6km), maintaining an average speed of 16.7 km per hour, said a press statement on Sunday.A total of 70 competitors from 25 countries took part in the championship and 33 of them could not complete the race.UAE secured the individual gold and silver medals, while Bahrain and France emerged winners in the team category. Riders from across the world competed in the event. (PTI)
