Shillong, Sept 6: Senior state BJP leader and the state party’s spokesperson H M Shangpliang has tendered resignation from the primary membership of the BJP on ‘personal grounds’.

The resignation letter dated September 6, 2023 was addressed to the President of the Meghalaya State BJP. He mentioned in the resignation letter about his differences with the state party president and alleged nepotism within the state BJP under the present leadership.

Meanwhile, State BJP has reacted sharply to the allegations of nepotism levelled by Shangpliang. BJP State president, Ernest Mawrie said that it was Shangpliang who was practicing nepotism by requesting the party to appoint his brother in Mawsynram Mondal. Denying any internal conflict, Mawrie said that he as the president cannot decide on anything and he follows the directives of the central leadership on policy matters.
