SHILLONG, Sep 8: The State Level Public Grievance Committee (SLPGC), which met for the first time on Friday after coming into existence six months ago on March 22, has decided to petition the state government to give it more responsibility and power to transform the committee into an effective tool to address issues of public grievances.
The committee is headed by Bajengdoba MLA, Pongseng R Marak and has thirteen other members who are designated as co-chairmen and vice-chairmen.
It also decided to press the government to take necessary steps to ensure that the public is aware of the importance and existence of the SLPGC and its functioning.
The SLPGC said it will update its existing portal and provide more services for the public grievance redressal.
It will also petition the government for strengthening of the present establishment through deputation of manpower from various departments.
The SLPGC also resolved to ensure time-bound delivery of services to the public.
