SHILLONG, Sep 9: A school in Jowai has been served show cause notice for playing the song of a political party during the Teachers’ Day celebration on the school premises recently.
The notice was issued to the Principal of Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Jowai, by the Director of School Education and Literacy (DSEL).
“…on the day of celebration of Teachers’ Day at your school, you as the Principal of Government Girls’ Higher Secondary School, Jowai, had wilfully allowed your students to play a song which belongs to a particular political party, which is against the government conduct rules,” the DSEL show-cause notice read.
“In this connection, you are hereby directed to show cause as to why disciplinary action should not be taken against you for your act of negligence,” it added.
The song in question is VPP’s election song called ‘Ha U Prah’, which was a hit. Since its popularity in elections, the song is now often played in social gatherings such as weddings and picnics.
