Tribute
Swami Vivekananda admirers will pay tribute to Swami Vivekananda at Batti Bazar Laban, Shillong, from 8 am on Monday to mark his 130th anniversary of Chicago Address. The anniversary lamp will be illuminated by Swamiji Maharaj from RKM Shillong at 10 am. The organisers however said that this year the admirers will only give Pronam (respectful salutation).
Birth anniv
The Shillong Assamese Ladies Welfare Club celebrated the 97th birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna Dr Bhupen Hazarika on Friday and Saturday with the ‘Socio Cultural Integration Meet’. Dr Jahanara Begum, a recipient of Best Actress National (Special Jury) Award for the film Annur, Mayur Bora, Gitartha Pathak and Manish Singh from ICCR, noted restaurateur of Shillong Jiwat Vaswani and Khasi senior citizens of Laban were felicitated on the occasion.
