SHILLONG, Sep 15: Leader of Opposition (LO) Ronnie V Lyngdoh on Friday dismissed charges of the Opposition being in disarray and said that the idea of an opposition alliance had been ruled out from the beginning.
“There was a categorical statement by VPP president Ardent Miller Basaiawmoit that his party wanted to maintain a separate identity. This very statement summarises everything,” Lyngdoh said. “The question of disarray is a very wrong expression. If we have an alliance and if there was no meeting then it would have been right to say we are in disarray,” the LO said.
Lyngdoh also claimed that there was no expression shown by any of the political parties in the opposition that they wanted a meeting before the session.
Curiously, Lyngdoh defended Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong for stating that there is lack of coordination among the opposition parties.
He however made it clear that the Congress will support any pertinent or relevant issues raised by any political party.
