Minor girl jumps off moving vehicle, succumbs to injuries

NONGPOH, Sep 19: In a heart-wrenching incident that unfolded on Tuesday, a minor girl lost her life after she reportedly jumped off a moving vehicle in the vicinity of Byrnihat. The incident was reported to the Byrnihat Police Outpost at around 12 pm by the officials from Byrnihat Primary Health Center (PHC).
According to the information from the police, the victim, a minor girl, was brought to the PHC following a distressing incident on the road. In response to the urgent call, a police team from the Byrnihat Police Outpost was immediately dispatched to the PHC to investigate the matter.
Upon arrival at the PHC, preliminary inquiries by the police revealed that the minor girl had been traveling in an auto-rickshaw (ML10 B7656), driven by Ramalson Marak (44), a resident of 15th Mile Byrnihat.
The girl had been en route to 18th Mile from Byrnihat when the unfortunate incident occurred.
As per the statement provided by the auto-rickshaw driver to the police, the incident took place on reaching 17th Mile as the minor girl reportedly jumped off the moving auto-rickshaw, resulting in her sustaining injuries. She was immediately shifted to Byrnihat PHC for medical attention.
Following a thorough medical examination at the PHC, doctors determined that her injuries required further treatment at a higher medical facility. Consequently, the victim was swiftly transferred to the Gauhati Medical College Hospital (GMC) in a 108 ambulance escorted by the police.
Tragically, the young girl succumbed to her injuries while undergoing treatment at GMCH.
In this connection, police are currently conducting an investigation into the incident to ascertain the circumstances that led the minor girl to jump from the auto-rickshaw.
