Shillong Book Fair 2023 from Sep 27
SHILLONG, Sep 22: The National Book Trust, Ministry of Education, will organise the Shillong Book Fair 2023 from September 27 to October 3 at the State Central Library complex here. Highlights of the book fair include Book Street for the visitors, children’s corner, cultural programme, literary session, and a youth event.
Eye camp in SWKH
MAWKYRWAT, Sep 22: The office of the District Medical and Health Officer, South West Khasi Hills District, and Civil Hospital, Mawkyrwat, in collaboration with the National Prevention for Control of Blindness and Visual Impairment, Meghalaya, will conduct an eye camp for patients above 50 years of age and also screening for cataract at Civil Hospital Mawkyrwat on October 3, at Ranikor Community Health Centre (CHC) on October 10, at Mawthawpdah Primary Health Centre (PHC) on October 17, and at Wahkaji Primary Health Centre (PHC) on October 31.
Training on Red Cross activities
SHILLONG, Sep 22: The Indian Red Cross, Meghalaya State Branch organised a two-day training programme for officers and counsellors on Thursday and Friday. The training was conducted by the Society Vice Chairman (E) Amelia Swer, MGR Shabong and team. Chairman RO Wallang, IFS (retired), inaugurated the two-day training programme in the presence of Dr MPR Lyngdoh, executive member, among others. The programme aimed to train the officers of the Youth Red Cross and the Counsellors of the Junior Red Cross on how to implement the Red Cross activities in their respective schools and colleges under the banner of the Indian Red Cross, and basic First Aid Training was also imparted at the sessions. Teachers from different schools and colleges actively participated in the training programmes. Certificates were distributed among all the participants.
