Multiple events mark World Tourism Day 2023 in NEHU

SHILLONG, Sep 27: A series of events such as photography, ‘Best Out of the Waste’ exhibition-cum-competition, Green Tourism Walk, indigenous food court, tourism Quiz, and cultural performances marked World Tourism Day at NEHU, which were organised by NEHU Yuva Tourism Club in collaboration with the Department of Tourism and Hotel Management, North-Eastern Hill University, and India Tourism, Shillong, on Wednesday.
All the competitions revolved around the theme of World Tourism Day 2023 — ‘Tourism and Green Investments.’
The celebration started with the ‘Green Tourism Walk’ inside the varsity campus which aimed to sensitise the NEHU community about the importance of Tourism, the environment, and sustainability. The formal inaugural session of the event was graced by Prof DK Nayak, Vice-Chancellor (In-charge), Prof AP Pati (Dean SEMIS), Prof Saurabh Kumar Dixit, Chairman, NEHU Yuva Tourism Club, Dr Benjamin F Lyngdoh, and Dr Sharad Kumar Kulshrestha from Department of Tourism and Hotel Management.
Resource persons highlighted the significance of preserving the environment with sustainable practices. They stressed upon the adverse impact on the Earth due to global warming and climate change.
