Merit award
Any student of Shillong Jail Road Boys’ Higher Secondary School who secures First Division with highest mark in his SSLC examination will henceforth be awarded a plaque with a cash reward every year, announced Prashanta Ranjan Das, an alumnus of the school, of the 1978 batch. This will be done in memory of his father (Late) Priti Kumar Das. Das had visited his alma mater along with his family. In his honour, the school organised a small programme with him as the speaker. Both students and teachers were moved and motivated by his mesmerizing speech. He also donated a substantial amount for revamp of school furniture.
